Even in the midst of Israel’s blatant rebellion, God still pours grace upon His people and blesses them, instead of allowing them to be cursed.  We see this as Balaam intends to curse YHWH’s people, but instead YHWH turns his mouth to bless them and to prophesy of the Victorious King who will one day rise out of Israel.  So too, in God’s great love for us and in His rich mercy, He made us alive in Christ, even when we were dead in our transgressions.  This is the work of that Victorious King.
