Cities of Refuge (VC2)

Throughout the Book of Numbers, we see that outcasts are expected to be taken in by God’s people.  In today’s reading, those outcasts happen to be murderers.  In many places in the Scriptures we see God’s heart for the outsiders and hear God’s voice instructing His people to take care of them and the foreigner (sojourner) (Ex. 23:9; Lev. 19:33-34; Deut. 10:17-19 etc).  In the Gospel of Luke, we also see Jesus painting a picture of care and love towards a foreigner, the Samaritan. We even hear Jesus say in Mark 2:17 that He came to gather those who are in need and sick (outsiders). In our current context, as followers of the Great King Jesus, what can we learn from Him and do in Him, as the Holy Spirit works in our hearts and directs us with His words?
