For the Inadequate (OH)
Inadequacy whispers: “I don’t have what it takes.” For some, inadequacy drives the pursuit of power, prestige, or possessions. For others, inadequacy pushes them toward the sidelines of living life with purpose. Mary was a teenager who seemed wholly inadequate, yet the message of one angel radically altered her life and calls us to rethink inadequacy altogether.
Unifying Phrase: In Jesus, you are highly favored.
- The feeling of inadequacy is ultimately created by a lack of approval (we feel like we’re missing some kind of approval).
- What if we stepped back and asked ourselves: what would it take to feel significant? (money, stuff, etc.)
- God doesn’t start his search by looking for the richest, or the biggest, or the best. In fact, there is no checklist. He’s just looking for you.
- God invites us to live from his approval rather than for his approval.
