From Additional to Intentional? (OH)
Sometimes, when you think about the “Reach” part of the Discipleship Path you may wonder to yourself:
“How can I possibly fit another thing into my schedule?”
“Reach seems so disjointed in my life and shouldn’t telling the Gospel be left up to the professionals, like church workers and missionaries?”
Well, what if you began to see all of life, each moment, each relationship, each interaction, as a way to bring the Kingdom of God into the world? Rather than seeing evangelism and being on mission as something complicated and additional to your life (Life + Mission), what if you saw all of life as mission? Being intentional in the rhythms and roles that God has already placed you in? Being the fragrance of Christ to all that the Apostle Paul speaks of in Corinthians? Being the aroma of Christ doesn’t mean that you constantly speak about Jesus and church; however, it does mean that you listen for opportunities to share the hope that you have in Jesus when you are asked. It means that you live a life worth imitating, as you imitate Jesus. You live a life that loves and cares for those who are broken and have messy life situations . . . just as Jesus did on this earth. Let’s consider together the idea of moving our lives away from the notion of Life + Mission to the rhythm of Life as Mission. This move is from additional to intentional.
