How Did We Get Here? Pt I (LR)
In his first speech of Deuteronomy, Moses dramatically tells the history of Israel’s wandering. Because of their disobedience, The Lord disciplined Israel in the wilderness for 40 years. Yet, the Lord never abandoned His people or failed to provide them with daily bread in their wanderings. Through Christ, The Lord continues to provide for all that we need in our daily lives.
Unifying Phrase: Aimless, but Purposed
- After being rescued from the hand of Pharaoh, Israel began to grumble against The Lord.
- The Lord disciplined Israel by having them aimlessly wander in the Wilderness for 40 years.
- This discipline forced Israel to become totally dependent on The Lord for daily bread. YHWH uses the disciple to remind Israel they are totally dependent on him for their daily bread.
- When you feel like you are wandering aimlessly through life (career, school, singleness, etc…), it is an opportunity to examine on what your identity is dependent. When we feel like we are wandering aimlessly in life, it is an opportunity to consider where the core of our identity lies.
- YHWH freely provides all that we will ever need.
