Inefficiently Effective (OH)
The world in which we live so often demands efficiency—demands progress and profit at all costs. However, when we look at Jesus’ mode of operation in the four Gospels, there was little Western-type efficiency around His ministry. In fact, we see that Jesus spent a lot of time with people: dining, celebrating, walking, worshiping, etc. In the West, we often value efficiency over relationships. In the Scriptures, we see Jesus often choosing relationship over efficiency . . . which is ultimately effective to extending the good news of the Gospel out to many. What seems upside-down to the world is often right-side-up in the Kingdom of God. At the end of Jesus’ life, He chose the inefficient way of the cross to effectively reconcile sinners to the Holy God. Out of this great gift from God, what if we chose to BLESS people all around us?
