Letting Go (VC2)
What is the church? The arrival of Jesus signaled the end of the Temple Model and the beginning of something entirely new! Jesus instructed us to love one another as well as those who won’t love us back. Over time and across cultures, different churches have tried to live that out in different ways. But when you reduce the church to its irreducible minimum, it is a group of people following a teacher—Jesus—who we believe was sent from God to bring us to God.
- The church, from an outsider’s perspective, should be a community of people who following the teaching of a man sent from God to make a way to God.
- The arrival of Jesus signaled the end of the temple model and the beginning of something entirely new.
- The church is not a building, but a body.
- Jesus called those in his movement (his disciples) to do three things: love God, love each other, and love their enemies.
