Most can accept the idea of a loving and forgiving God — but cannot accept a God who sends people to hell.  To them Hell is incompatible with the idea of a loving God.

Apart from God none of us are “good” and yet Jesus is patient not wanting any of us to perish.  The justice of God demands that sin be punished, in Jesus the punishment has been served and He now offers His righteousness that He won to all who believe.  How does knowing that Jesus went to hell on your behalf show His love for you?
