Objection! What Gives You the Right to Tell Me How to Live My Life? (OH)
Some object that the Christian belief in an absolute, one-size-fits-all truth that is subversive to our individual and communal freedom. They argue that Christianity is an enemy of authentic personhood, social cohesion, and even freedom.
Do we have the right to define what is right and wrong for ourselves? Is there some kind of moral reality that is not defined by us? That must be abided by regardless of what a person feels or thinks? Does Christianity claim absolute truth as a way to keep power or does living in the light of the Gospel actually bring true freedom?
