Passover People (VC2)
The Israelites were called by the LORD to be a “Passover People.” Every year, they would come together as one big community to recall in a physical and spiritual way the pinnacle of YHWH’s faithfulness to them. They recalled how He delivered them from their slavery and certain death in Egypt, by recalling the night of the Passover. In the Passover, they looked ahead, too. They looked forward and hoped in the Promised Land where they would dwell together in peace with the LORD. Today, we who follow Jesus also look back and recount the LORD’s faithfulness to us. We do this on a regular basis when we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. At the same time, we look forward to the Promised Land of life together with Him, forever. The Ultimate Lamb has come and His name is Jesus the Christ, of Nazareth. We too, are a “Passover People,” telling one another and the world the story of what God has done and will do through Jesus.
