Jesus commends the church in Thyatira for their actions of love and service, but then sternly corrects their doctrine.  They were sinfully more tolerant than God—which is still a temptation for us today.  In a world that preaches tolerance of all things what can we learn from the church at Pergamum about what tolerance looks like in the life of a disciple of Jesus and in His church today?

• Give a description of the city and church at Thyatira.
• Jesus commends them for their growing love and service.
• Jesus corrects their doctrine and it is a long list.
• What is Christian tolerance? We propose not impose.  We have social tolerance.  We have theological tolerance in the church.  We do not have tolerance for heretical teaching and immorality.
• Tolerance should always lead us to repentance.
