Live Worship

Seductive Calves (VCB)

Throughout time, God’s people have struggled with idols. They have turned from Him, not trusting Him for all they need, breaking the first Word that He spoke in His covenant to them. Most of us may not worship idols of gold and stones today, but God’s people still struggle with idol worship in subtle and seductive ways. In the west, rampant materialism consumes many lives that are blind to this idol. Others have turned from relying on God to relying on themselves and their own abilities for their needs and desires. Others worry about life’s troubles, not trusting God for all He has promised to His people. Still, others have turned human relationships into idols. Together, with the people of God throughout history, we repent of our idolatry and turn to follow Him who calls us; the One who came to seek and to save the lost.

Consider the idols that battle for your attention and time. Repent of (turn from) them and follow Jesus. Read Exodus 37-38.
