Shifting Perspective (VC2)
Religion is powerful—so powerful it can shape our consciences. Unfortunately, our consciences have been shaped by a version of Christianity that reflects a blend of the rules-focused temple model with the Jesus movement, which is demonstrated by love. As a result, we’re tempted to prioritize law-keeping/knowledge over loving others. How do we shift our perspective to live in love and belief the way that Jesus had in mind?
- Sometimes we let laws/beliefs get in the way of our love.
- We believe and so we live in love.
- If we become all about belief or all about behavior, we need to check our perspective.
- God shows us on the cross that he is for us so we can be for others.
