Peter addresses disciples of Jesus as, “Strangers in the world”, because Nero was unleashing his full wrath on them and the culture around them was anything but friendly.  In this midst of this challenge Peter reminds them of the hope they have in Jesus.  Christianity no longer has the high ground in America, in fact the culture war has been lost; we are living as strangers in a post-Christian culture.  Now more than ever we need to cling to the hope we have in Jesus.

Specifically pray for a friend or loved one who has gone the way of the culture.
