Despised and hated by his brothers, Joseph is sold into slavery (Gen. 37:4b).  Jesus, like Joseph, was also despised and hated by many.  Though Jesus is despised and rejected, God chooses to use what is low and despised in this world, and give victory and life to us through Jesus’ death on the cross.
